ADA Requirements

The ADA requires that title II entities (state and local governments) and title III entities (businesses and nonprofit organizations that serve the public) communicate effectively with people who have communication disabilities.

Executive Order 13166

Beyond ADA compliance for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing customers, there’s also Executive Order 13166, which applies to organizations that receive federal funds (like SNAP or WIC). It requires meaningful access for individuals with limited

English proficiency

Our goal is to ensure that communication with people who speak a language other than English and those

with disabilities is effective and accurate.
